Open House NY

Where was the 3rd coolest place to visit in New York City for Open House New York Weekend (according to the Gothamist)?

Oh yeah, that’s right! You guessed it. Give yourself a seltzer. It’s us!

That meant Sunday, Oct 22nd, we were open (sans tours) from noon to four. And FREE! Hundreds of people dropped by, from all over the city, and all over the world. And we had a blast. Literally (see the video below)…

While all visits as part of Open House NY were free, which included unlimited beverages, we DID encourage donations at the egg cream station for the UJA’s Israel Emergency Fund. Over the course of the four hours, we raised $180. The money was sent to provide emergency cash assistance to help relocate vulnerable populations – the elderly, people with disabilities, Holocaust survivors, and children at risk – from the south to safer areas in central Israel, as well as providing trauma counseling to bereaved families and devastated communities.

Big thanks to Ben Helmer, Christa Clay, Joel Schmidt, and all the others who shared photos with us from the day.
